Edinburgh – Falkirk Wheel - Glasgow

This morning we cross the stately Royal Mile and ascend the hill to visit the famous Edinburgh Castle,  a historic fortress which dominates the skyline of the city. The Castle is home to the Crown Jewels known as The Honours of Scotland and the Stone of Destiny, a powerful and ancient symbol of Scottish monarchy. Leaving Edinburgh we stop at Falkirk Wheel, a rotating boat lift connecting the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal, for a photo-stop. The boat lift  reconnects the two canals for the first time since the 1930s as part of the Millennium Link project to regenerate central Scotland's canals, and reconnect Glasgow with Edinburgh. Continuing our drive we reach Scotland's largest city and a national cultural hub, Glasgow. On arrival enjoy a view of Glasgow Cathedral and the University of Glasgow. Later you have some free time at Georges Square for photos of the ornate Glasgow City Chambers and several monuments and statues. Late evening we check into our hotel.
